BREAKING: Somaliland Condemns UN Official’s Laascaanood Visit
Somaliland strongly condemns George Conway’s visit to Laascaanood, which Somaliland regards as an unauthorised violation of its sovereign territory and a serious breach of the established UN–Somaliland coordination framework.
The visit raises grave concerns over UN neutrality, impartiality, and respect for Somaliland’s territorial sovereignty.
The United Nations must immediately explain the legal and administrative basis for this visit and clarify why Somaliland authorities were not properly consulted.
Somaliland’s sovereignty is not negotiable. Humanitarian engagement must never become a vehicle for political interference or legitimisation of territorial claims against Somaliland.
